Concession Wars – Round 3

Two rounds in and we have had two different winners. This round, we take a look at all the options for food outside of popcorn. It’s going to get a little strange.

Starting with AMC, there are 11 options. My go to here are the mozzarella sticks, but they are not great once in a while. I’ve never seen a soul get a hot dog at the AMC I go to. It’s mainly fries, pretzels, or candy. Chicken tenders are on the board here, but they have always been unavailable, so I don’t have a price on them.

Emagine is home of my precious cheese curds. I get these every visit without fail. Something that is special about this chain is you place your order and then head to your seats. Your food is then delivered to you at the seat. It really cuts down on the crowd waiting on food. 11 options here too, but I was at a Emagine a couple weeks ago and they had 3 different kinds of tacos, so the number of options is higher than 11.

At least 15 options at MJR, and they offer quite a variety. Also, what is nice here is that the prices are the lowest of at least three of the chains this round. Their cheese curds were ok here.

After winning the Drink round last time, Phoenix is back in last this round. Their options are as basic as you can find at a small independent theater. I’m not saying they need 15 options like some other chains, but at least more than 3.

This round comes down to Emagine and MJR. While MJR offers more options, and they are cheaper, the food delivery at Emagine is enough to give it its second win in the War.

This Round: Emagine – 4 pts, MJR – 3 pts, AMC – 2 pts, Phoenix – 1 pt.

Total: Emagine – 11 pts, MJR – 8 pts, Phoenix – 7 pts, AMC – 5 pts.
