This week, Comic-Con happened in San Diego, and with it, Marvel. I was ready to talk about my thoughts about what they announced here, but the big announcement at the end was too big. So, I will talk about that in a post on Wednesday. Until then, 3 more films to talk about this week. On to the reviews!

For the second week in a row, I’m just happy the mystery movie wasn’t The Fabulous Four. Having said that, this one was a lot. This was partly a backstory of how a Belfast-based Rap group formed, but also partly a story about the possible death of the Irish language. While those two storylines did go well together, you can tell that Kneecap had a big hand in the story. Playing themselves in the film, I would like to think they played exaggerated version of themselves. They do some many bad things in the film. This isn’t a film for everyone, and it never really went anywhere once it got to the end. Liam and Naoise though played himself better than anyone would have, so that works. Also, the music is great too. Overall, this is something that I am glad I saw once, but I will probably never see it again.

This was ok. Set in the lead up to Apollo 11’s voyage to the moon, Johansson’s Kelly is a con woman who settled into advertising, and is hired/blackmailed by the Nixon administration to sell NASA and the Apollo program to the public. What complicates things for her Tatum’s Cole, who is the director in charge of the program. Also, the Nixon administration wants her to make a back up of the moon landing in case things don’t go the way they want it to. things go the way you think it will, and it does kind of make fun of people who think that the moon landing was fake. I’m not sure why this had to be 2 hour movie. The story could have been a 90 minute movie. Still, it was a fine movie that people will find a few things they like about it. It did make me giggle thinking that Kelly was another alias of Natasha Romanoff though.

Is it possible to get everything you want from something, but also be disappointed by it? This was the one movie I was looking forward to more than any other movie this year, and it was certainly a Deadpool movie. These movies aren’t for everyone, but this one is more not for everyone. There were so many little things in this movie that if you didn’t see the movies before this, you’re going to be lost. To get all the jokes, you need to know about all the Fox movies, and Loki, and even the actor’s real lives. The cameos were great and really worked with the story (better than Doctor Strange 2), and two of them you’re never going to guess. What really is the issue here is there isn’t a story. There isn’t much to talk about right now that wouldn’t be a spoiler that you can’t see the trailer anyway. All it is is fights with Wolverine (that are awesome), cameos, jokes, wrap up the movie. For such a big movie for the MCU, to have such a little story is kind of a problem. What does that mean for the future MCU movies next year?
That’s the bad side of this movie though. The good side is I laughed through almost the entire movie, and it was cool seeing the cameos which I won’t give away here. While this was probably the worst of the three Deadpool movies, it’s still might be better than most of the MCU movies we’ve had since maybe No Way Home, which is also a lot like this movie, take that or leave it. Reynolds and Jackman are so great as Deadpool and Wolverine, it really makes up for when the movie could have been so much better. This could have been so much worse, so I guess I’ll be happy with what we got.

After Deadpool & Wolverine made $200 million last week, we might not see that number in a weekend again this year. Second weekend will be a lot less than that, but it should still be enough to beat the two new movies we will have. I also think we will see the first weekend with Inside Out 2 out of the Top 5. It is over $1 billion worldwide, so it should be fine.
- Deadpool & Wolverine
- Harold and the Purple Crayon
- Trap
- Despicable Me 4
- Twisters
Only a couple full weeks in the schedule in the near future, and this next week is about a cook, a concert, and a magic crayon. Also, as I said above, I’ll have a post about my thoughts of what Marvel announced last night at Comic Con.
