Three months into the year, and this hasn’t been the best year so far. As of the end of March, I only have 9 films at 4/5 or better, and still no 5/5s. There were still some really good films in my opinion this year, but also some really bad ones. Let’s get into those first.

Of the Bottom 10 right now, all ten were a waste of time. From McVeigh not having a reason to exist, to Oh, Canada really testing my patience, these ten all were one that weren’t even fun in a bad way like Madame Web was a little last year. The Alto Knights was by far the most disappointing, as a De Niro Gangster film is usually a slam dunk for me. Now, for the more fun section of the rankings.

The Top 4 has two entries from Steven Soderbergh, and over time to sit with them, Black Bag might move up a little more. It worked for me really well. I might have Mickey 17 and Companion higher than most people, but that science fictiony genre is one that I am most comfortable with. I’m not saying Mickey 17 is better than Parasite or Snowpiercer, but there still isn’t a Bong Joon Ho film i have not thought highly of. I will agree that Paddington in Peru is the weakest of the Paddington series, but that is only because it follows up the masterpiece that was, and still is, 2017’s Paddington 2. Looking at what is coming in the next quarter, I would guess anything below The Monkey on the list is in danger of being sent down to the lost lands of the middle group.
