Week of February 16th – The Highs and Lows of February

I for one can’t wait until Scream 7 comes out next week. Not because I’m excited for it, but because I won’t have to watch the trailer ever again. The main side effect of having AMC A-List, and seeing so many films there, is I see a lot of trailers. Due to this, there is always that one film that the marketing team of the studio decides to flood the market. In the past it was The Roses that was before nearly every film, and it usually is whatever upcoming film the House of Mouse has on the horizon. Right now that is Prada 2 and Mandalorian. However, it is Scream that is driving me insane. I have watched the same trailer before nearly all my movies since November. It’s the ones without it, like this past Monday, that fills me with relief. Only one more week to go. On to the reviews!

Disowned at birth by his obscenely wealthy family, blue-collar Becket Redfellow will stop at nothing to reclaim his inheritance, no matter how many relatives stand in his way.

This was an entertaining, mean film to watch. I thought Glenn Powell was really good and charming as our protagonist trying to wipe out his family, and it is kind of funny to see him choose to be in another movie wear he has to be disguised again. The man loves to dress up apparently, and I’m not mad about it. Marqaret Qualley is good here and she’s the cause of most of the tension in the movie as she has ulterior motives that become clearer and clear as the movie goes on. On the flipside, Jessica Henwick really isn’t given a lot to do as Powell’s love interest, and Ed Harris just as kind of there just to be the big bad at the end. Also, Topher Grace and Zach Woods are great as relatives that Becket has to cross off the list. This film just really worked for me, and will probably be a doubleheader with Hit Man for me in the future.

A police officer tracks a killer after her husband, a highway patrolman, becomes one of his victims.

Just awful. The only good I think I thought of going on the way home was it at least it was only 90 minutes long. You wait and wait for the film do something other than have Georgina Campbell’s Jane talking about where the killer is going next, or the killer murdering another person in gross ways. Also, did Malcom McDowell need money badly? That had to be the only reason he is on this film, right? Once he shows up, the film really gets stupid though.

Easy week to guess next week with a Scream entry being released.

  1. Scream 7
  2. Avatar: Fire & Ash
  3. 28 Year Later: The Bone Temple
  4. The Housemaid
  5. Zootopia 2

This next week is finally Scream 7 on Thursday, and I see Hoppers early on Saturday afternoon.
